Power off or restart the dashcam

If you are not installing the dashcam in a vehicle or installation is aborted, it's important to power off the dashcam correctly so that battery resources are not used unnecessarily.

To power off, see To power off the dashcam.

There are several ways to restart (reboot) the dashcam:

Automatic restart (reboot)

The dashcam auto reboots daily.

Manual restart (reboot)

A manual restart (reboot) retains the user password and user settings. The SD card is not affected.

There are two ways to do a manual restart (reboot): from the dashcam or from the Partner Portal.

Method 1: from the Surfsight® AI-12 dashcam only

  1. Open the SD card cover.

  2. On the side of the dashcam, short press the Reset button (pin hole).

The dashcam shuts down and restarts.

Method 2: from the Partner Portal

  1. From the Devices area, select the device and click the three-dot menu.

  2. Click Reboot. A confirmation window pops up.

  3. Click OK. The device restarts.

Factory reset

A factory reset restores the factory default settings and deletes the user password and user settings. The SD card is not affected.

To perform a factory reset, see Factory reset of the dashcam.

      1. Scroll down and press Power Off.

        dashcam_viewSettingsMenu

        A confirmation window pops up.

      2. Follow the instructions on the screen to first disconnect the power cable, and then press OK on the screen to power off the dashcam.

        Important

Complete this step in order to prevent the dashcam from restarting. If the dashcam does restart, repeat this step to avoid draining the battery.

If a tamper-proof case is installed on the dashcam, you cannot disconnect the power cable. Press OK and the dashcam restarts instead of shutting down.

      3. If you want to turn the dashcam on again, insert the power cable.

    • For the AI-14 dashcam, scroll down and press Restart dashcam.

      A confirmation window pops up.
