Troubleshooting: auxiliary cameras

The following table suggests solutions for issues that may arise with auxiliary cameras:

Issue/question

Possible cause

Suggested solution/explanation

Pairing is taking too long or requires more then one attempt to connect.

  1. Interference due to physical obstructions or other radio signals in the environment.

If there is metal between the dashcam and auxiliary camera, it can significantly reduce the range of WiFi signals.

  2. The auxiliary camera switches to APN mode.

  3. More than four auxiliary cameras are connected.

  4. The distance between the dashcam and auxiliary camera may be more than 10 meters.

  1. In case of physical obstruction , try to install the auxiliary camera in a different place.

Avoid using other WiFi or wireless devices in close proximity during the pairing process, as they may cause wireless interference.

  2. To address the issue of switching to APN mode, on the auxiliary camera press the reset button for 3 seconds to reboot.

If the the problem persists, press the reset button again for more than 10 seconds to reset and unpair from the dashcam. Then re-pair the auxiliary camera.

For more information, see Reboot or unpair the auxiliary camera.

  3. Do not connect more than four auxiliary cameras.

  4. Ensure the distance between the dashcam and auxiliary camera is not more than 10 meters.

When connecting multiple auxiliary cameras, the first one disconnects when another is paired.

This is expected behavior. The auxiliary camera reconnects on its own in about one to two minutes.

After pairing a second auxiliary camera both auxiliary cameras should be connected.

The WiFi auxiliary camera isn't connecting to the dashcam.

Check the power wire of the auxiliary camera.

Reboot the auxiliary camera and search for the camera's SSID in the available networks on the dashcam screen to check that the auxiliary camera is online.

The auxiliary camera doesn't record a vibration event.

The auxiliary cameras connect only after the main dashcam wakes up from Standby mode upon sensing movement.

The auxiliary cameras don't record after the vehicle has been turned off.

The auxiliary cameras connect to ignition power.

The auxiliary cameras only record when the ignition is turned to the ON position.

The auxiliary camera loses its connection.

Network interference between the auxiliary camera and the dashcam.

Reset the auxiliary camera by pressing the reset button for more than 10 seconds. Re-pair the auxiliary camera and check again.

Auxiliary cameras record continuously.

The auxiliary cameras are connected to constant power.

It is recommended to connect auxiliary cameras to ignition power.

One or more auxiliary cameras do not reconnect to the dashcam after the dashcam wakes up from Standby mode.

  1. Reboot the auxiliary camera by turning off and on the ignition of the vehicle (when a auxiliary camera is connected to ignition power).

  2. If that doesn't resolve the issue, on the auxiliary camera press the reset button for 3 seconds to reboot.

If the the problem persists, press the reset button again for more than 10 seconds to reset and unpair from the dashcam. Then re-pair the auxiliary camera.

The retention period is not applied for recorded media files that are on the auxiliary camera.

The retention should be set for each auxiliary camera.

Set the retention period for each auxiliary camera.

A retention period of four minutes for auxiliary cameras can cause a loss of part of the recordings from the auxiliary camera.

This is normal behavior, as designed.

Transferring video files from auxiliary camera to a dashcam takes time. When the retention period it set to four minutes, some of the files might be lost or deleted.
