You can encrypt the recordings on your SD card. Each recording file is encrypted separately using a password and an AES algorithm that is supported in FIPS 140-2. The password must be set through the Surfsight Portal and can be 16, 24, or 32 characters in length.
Note
When first setting up encryption, it must be done from the Surfsight Portal. Once enabled, the encryption can then be disabled and re-enabled from the dashcam or from the portal.
Important
Encryption must be set on an empty SD card.
Important
Encryption only works on videos recorded with 720p resolution or below.

From the Surfsight Portal dashboard, click Cameras on the navigation bar.

Use the Search bar to find the name of the dashcam or browse to find the relevant dashcam.

Click the three dots next to the relevant dashcam.

In the Edit Device window that pops-up, click SETTINGS.

Scroll down to Recording Encryption.

Toggle the button to turn encryption on or off.

If turning on encryption, set a password.
The password can be 16, 24, or 32 characters in length.

Click SAVE to apply the changes.

If you are enabling encryption for the first time, this must be done from the Surfsight Portal. For more details, see Enable or disable encryption from the dashcam.

When you are in the parked vehicle with the parking brake on, the ignition on, and the door closed, press the touchscreen of the dashcam to view the PIN screen.

Enter the default PIN 3333 to unlock the dashcam for the first time, or your own PIN subsequently.

Press Settings.
