When you insert a new SD card into your AI-12 dashcam, you need to format it. You can also reformat the dashcam SD card and auxiliary camera SD cards.
When an SD card is formatted successfully, the SD card formatted event is triggered and the card is assigned a UUID, or a unique identifier. This UUID is replaced each time the card is reformatted.
Note
This feature is only available on dashcams with firmware 3.11.25 or above.
Always format an SD card when any of the following apply:

The SD card has not been supplied by Lytx®, Inc.
-
You are replacing a card supplied by Lytx®, Inc.
-
You are troubleshooting device alarms.
You can format and reformat the SD cards in the dashcam as follows:
Tip
To format SD cards without activating the dashcam, remove the SIM card during the process.
To insert and format a new SD card:

Insert a new SD card into the dashcam.
A prompt pops up on the dashcam screen, requesting permission to format the SD card.

Press Yes.
A message on the dashcam screen states the external storage was formatted successfully.

After the SD card is formatted successfully, press the touchscreen of the dashcam to view the PIN screen.

Enter the default PIN 3333 to unlock the dashcam for the first time, or your own PIN subsequently.
The screen unlocks and the menu can be viewed.

Press Settings.

The following steps are required to restart the dashcam. It is important to keep the plug in the dashcam for it to restart.
Scroll down to Power Off.

Press Power Off and then OK. Do not remove the plug as instructed by the message on the screen.
The device restarts.

Check for the red recording light
at the bottom of the screen to verify the SD card is working.

When you are in the parked vehicle with the parking brake on, the ignition on, and the door closed, press the touchscreen of the dashcam to view the PIN screen.

Enter the default PIN 3333 to unlock the dashcam for the first time, or your own PIN subsequently.

Press Settings.

Scroll down and select Format SD card.

If you have any auxiliary cameras paired to the dashcam, after you format the dashcam SD card you are asked if you want to format those SD cards as well.
