The following are frequently asked questions about road-facing Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS):
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Do I need to do anything different during installation? | For EU installations, no installation proceeds the same way it always has, using the default PIN, as long as it is completed within the two-hour window after the dashcam first connects. For installations outside the EU, there is no change at all. |
| What happens if installation takes longer than two hours? | For EU dashcams, after two hours the PIN will have already changed to a new, unique value for security reasons. If you need continued access after that point, your organization’s device administrator can view the current PIN through the Surfsight partner portal and share it. |
| What if we factory reset the dashcam partway through installation? | For EU dashcams, a factory reset immediately assigns a new, unique PIN as part of the reset process. This is separate from — and takes priority over — the two-hour window. |
| Is this a one-time change, or does it apply to every dashcam? | It applies automatically to every Surfsight AI-14 dashcam installed in the EU, as part of standard activation. There is nothing to configure or opt into. It does not apply to dashcams installed outside the EU. |
| What if an organization already uses its own custom default PIN? | If your organization has configured its own custom PIN rather than the standard factory reset PIN, that PIN is applied to all your dashcams as usual and is not automatically randomized. The two-hour delay of PIN randomization applies only to dashcams still using the standard factory reset PIN. |
