Gen2 MV+AI model - The AI-14 dash cam introduces MV+AI Gen 2 technology, a powerful set of algorithms enhancing our driver behavior detection capabilities. Gen2 MV+AI is currently in beta. We welcome your feedback as we continue to refine and expand these features.
-
New features: This new generation of MV+AI delivers a more comprehensive view of risk for both distraction and ADAS models. In this version, new events such as critical distance, following distance, and rolling stop are introduced. More MV+AI events will be introduced in the near future. Legacy models will no longer be supported, along with tailgating, lane-weaving, and passenger unbelted events.
-
Accelerated Innovation: The AI-14 runs the same MV+AI algorithms used on Lytx DriveCam, allowing us to leverage a vast amount of data for training new MV+AI capabilities and leverage development resources from both product lines to deliver new innovation faster to the market.
-
Streamlined Setup: Road-facing ADAS features include auto-calibration for streamlined set up. It automatically calibrates during a standard highway drive once the width, height, and offset are provided during installation.
-
Enhanced configuration: Future updates on this platform will offer greater control over alerts, timing, muting periods, and more, allowing you to configure alerts and events to match your operational requirements and market needs.
Refined video recordings
-
Increased recorder stability: Internal optimizations reduce instances of the video recorder process restarting unexpectedly. This minimizes interruptions in footage capture and ensures a more reliable, continuous recording experience even under varying conditions.
-
Reliable event media availability: Improvements ensure that recorded events are consistently accompanied by their corresponding video files, reducing instances where an event might be logged without the associated footage. Corresponding ticket #NDC-1340.
Enhanced power efficiency & Remote Connectivity
-
Universal SIM support with stable connectivity: We've rolled out a comprehensive modem firmware update that enables full MQTT protocol support. This upgrade eliminates the need for SMS-based wake-up commands, transitioning to more efficient MQTT-based device management.
-
Efficient semi-online mode recording access: The system now lets you view recorded footage during standby without fully waking up the dashcam. Previously, accessing recordings would force the device to exit standby mode, unnecessarily draining the vehicle's battery and wearing down storage. Now you can review your dashcam footage while the device stays in standby mode, keeping camera lenses and display powered down. In a future cloud deployment, you may take advantage of the new "semi-online" status in your integration to help with current recording retrievals or virtual event flows.
-
Optimized connection management: We've addressed several MQTT connection stability issues, including improving connection retention during continuous recording and implementing better handling of device configuration changes. Technology partners should see more consistent device connectivity and fewer unexpected disconnections from the MQTT broker.
Enhanced Device Authentication
-
To strengthen security and protect against unauthorized access, we are introducing an improved authentication model for AI-14 dashcams. This update enhances cloud security by confirming that only verified devices can communicate with our system, preventing spoofing and unauthorized data transmissions. The new security mechanism also addresses that multiple devices cannot use the same identifier to access the cloud.
Driver Check-In and Check-Out on the Dashcam
-
The Driver Identification feature enables seamless driver check-in and check-out directly on the dashcam using a 5-digit PIN code or a QR code. Alternatively, drivers can be checked in and out via API without requiring any direct driver interaction. Once a driver is checked in, all trips and events recorded by the dashcam will be associated with that driver. To assign drivers via API, a driver record must first be created. Once created, the corresponding QR code or check-in PIN can be obtained for future use. For more details, visit the Drivers section in the Developer Portal.
Additional Changes
-
The default standby time has been extended from 2 minutes to 10 minutes. Previously, a shorter standby time was used to reduce battery drain, as remote requests fully woke the device. Now that remote access operates in a low-power semi-online state, the device can remain on for 10 minutes after a trip ends, allowing it to function as a parking mode before entering standby.
-
The default text overlay setting in the Device Settings API has been changed from true to false. Based on feedback, we have decided to allow partners to configure this setting according to their preferences.
Future updates are planned to further expand MV+AI capabilities, introduce additional configuration controls, and enhance cloud-based integrations. Stay tuned for more improvements designed to optimize safety, efficiency, and reliability. As always, we appreciate your feedback and look forward to bringing you even more powerful advancements in the near future.
