Preparing for installation

Before installing an auxiliary camera, make sure you have all the necessary items and materials.

You can purchase the following items using the order form:

  • auxiliary cameras, which come with a power cable and:

    • for wrap-mount cameras: hose clamps, large and small, and silicone pads

    • for flush-mountcameras: mounting brackets

  • M12/RJ45 network extension cables, either five or twenty meters in length

You will need additional items that are not supplied by Surfsight® :

  • a router, with WiFi support and enough LAN ports for the number of auxiliary cameras being installed

    Tip

Any router with the above requirements should work. We have tested the following routers and found them compatible with our auxiliary cameras:

  • a Phillips screwdriver

  • for wrap-mount cameras: a flat head screwdriver, to tighten screws on the hose clamps

  • for wired cameras: screws, for attaching the mounting bracket to the vehicle

  • we also recommend that you protect any cables outside of the vehicle using adhesive lined heat shrink
