Prerequisites:
-
Make sure the auxiliary camera & Router are connected to ignition power.
-
Use any device that connects to Wi-Fi, such as a phone or tablet, to check that the router is broadcasting an SSID to which the dashcam can connect.
-
Field installations: If the installer does not have access to the Surfsight® Portal, the installer must be sent the QR code before the installation. You can send them a screenshot or printed version.
On the Surfsight Portal, click Cameras on the navigation bar. The list of dashcams and groups appears. Click the name of a Group to see the dashcams in that group if needed. |
---|---|
Click the three dots next to the desired dashcam. |
Scroll to the bottom of the Edit Device window and select Wi-Fi. |
The Wi-Fi window opens. In the SSID field, enter the name of the Wi-Fi network to which you want to connect the camera. Select the Encryption relevant to your network from the drop-down list. In the Key field, enter the password of your Wi-Fi. Click GENERATE. |
A QR barcode opens on your screen. |
Note: It is best practice to configure the router QR code and AI-12 together prior to dispatching for installation. This will ensure that the installer either has a printed copy of the QR code or an electronic version. |
Connect the dashcam to the router's Wi-Fi network.
When you are in the parked vehicle with the parking brake on, the ignition on, and the door closed, press the touchscreen of the dashcam to view the PIN screen. Enter the default PIN 3333 to unlock the dashcam for the first time, or your own PIN subsequently. |
---|---|
The screen unlocks and the menu appears: Touch Settings. |
Touch Wi-Fi. |
Touch the button to toggle it to On to turn on the Wi-Fi. |
When enabled, a list of available networks appears on the screen. Touch Connect to a Different Network. |
The dashcam beeps several times to indicate is it looking for a QR code. |
Point the dashcam road facing lens at the QR barcode to scan the code. The QR code can be on your computer screen, mobile phone screen, or printed. Any clear visual presented to the dashcam road lens is sufficient. |
The dashcam connects to the Router Wi-Fi network. Wi-Fi router connection is shown next to the GPS symbol. |
To confirm that the router and connected auxiliary cameras paired successfully, touch Settings, scroll down, and press More Info. |
ImportantThe More Info screen does not automatically refresh when new auxiliary cameras are connected to the router. To see that they have successfully connected, exit the More Info screen, wait about a minute to make sure they have all reconnected, and re-enter. The added auxiliary cameras should appear. |
Note
If there is any trouble finding the auxiliary camera, ensure that the AI-12 and auxiliary camera are connected to the router and restart the auxiliary camera via the re-set button. If the Surfsight auxiliary cameras still can't be found, verify that the auxiliary camera & router is turned on and contact support.
