Surfsight auxiliary cameras troubleshooting

Trouble shouting of Aux cameras is limited to ensuring they have quality power and ground connections to the vehicle, and connection over Wi-Fi.

The following table suggests solutions for issues that may arise with auxiliary cameras:

Issue/question

Possible cause

Suggested solution/explanation

The Wi-Fi auxiliary camera is not connecting to the dashcam

Reboot the auxiliary camera and search for the camera’s SSID in the available networks on the dashcam screen to that the auxiliary camera is online

The auxiliary camera does not record a vibration event.

The auxiliary cameras connect only after the main dashcam wakes up from Standby mode upon sensing movement.

The auxiliary cameras do not record after the vehicle has been turned off.

AI-12 Troubleshooting guidance

Enter the main menu by un-locking the camera, select settings, in this menu you can check the camera function and GSM/ GPS status in more information section.

  • Check the main power cable and fuses for damage and rectify as required.

  • Check that you have a good quality ground/ earth connection.

  • Pay special attention to the power cable/ USB-CAT6 cables that run near to the windscreen, as they can become damaged by having the windscreen (windshield) replaced.

  • On the main menu screen, you can validate GPS and connection to either Wi-Fi or LTE Data. Check the Live views and access the settings menu.

Connection indicator

Indicates whether a data or Wi-Fi connection is available and the strength of that connection. To access Wi-Fi, the camera should have a SIM card or be connected to a Surfsight cloud app account.
